Self Employed Practice Nurse (The Junction)

The successful candidate will provide high-quality, evidence-based nursing care, delivering essential treatment room services, immunisations, cervical screening and wound management. Experience in chronic disease management would be advantageous.

The post holder will work autonomously within their professional competence, supporting preventative healthcare, long-term condition management and the delivery of national immunisation and screening programmes.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver routine childhood and adult immunisations and vaccinations.
• Undertake cervical screening in line with NHS guidelines.
• Assess and manage acute and chronic wounds, including dressings and post-operative care.
• Carry out treatment room procedures such as venepuncture, ECGs, blood pressure monitoring, urinalysis, and prescribed injections.
• Maintain accurate clinical records using EMIS Web.
• Work collaboratively with GPs, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Healthcare Assistants, Pharmacists, and the wider practice team.
• Adhere to clinical governance, safeguarding, and infection prevention standards.

Essential

• Current NMC registration.
• Experience working within General Practice or Primary Care.
• Competency in childhood and adult immunisations.
• Understanding of infection prevention and control
• Current cervical screening qualification and competency.
• Experience in wound care and treatment room nursing.
• Understanding of safeguarding and clinical governance responsibilities
• The ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. [Practice

Desirable

• Experience managing long-term conditions including asthma, diabetes, hypertension, or COPD.
• Travel health experience.
• Women’s health or contraception qualifications.
• Spirometry training.
• EMIS Web experience.
• Experience supporting QOF targets and clinical audits.
